Spoken Appreciation

It was a cold night, but still my husband and I decided to have a walked outside. Luckily, we had just found a little café. And as we trail our way towards the table, we can feel the cold wind behind us, the pungent scent of spaghetti sauce and spices inside.

As we passed the booths, my eyes were caught and held for a moment to a dark-haired lady wearing a pink hat, with pink tulle and flowers and saucy tilt. Coming upon it so suddenly in this prosaic surrounding stopped me.

Just then the outer door opened and a group of sailors came in. They also passed the lady with pink hat as they started toward a table. One of them told the lady that he likes her hat without pausing or breaking his stride with his fellows.

The lady nodded briefly and thanked the man. But it seemed that it could not be just that and I began to wish that I had at least smiled and thanked her for the trill she had given me.

Last night my husband told me that he always liked the way I walked for no apparent reason at all. I feel great knowing that because I know I just walked like anyone else. After that every step I took had a special meaning. Appreciating out loud really makes a person’s day.
